Khajuraho, India 2

Although I had a general rule not to publish more than one photo of a place, I decided this time against it. I just wanted to show you what made the greatest impression to me in Khajuraho. It wasnt the erotic, almost pornographic themes but the delicate sculptures of apsaras.

Apsaras are celestial maidens; supernatural beings: they appear as young women of great beauty and elegance who are proficient in the art of dancing. They dance in the palaces of the gods, and entertain gods and fallen heroes. They are often compared to nymphs in Greek mythology or the Valkyries of Norse mythology (as they take care of the fallen heroes).

This particular apsara – I mean, any mortal woman is jealous of her curves.
