I had a brief trip to Damascus few days ago. I love the hustling and bustling alleys of the souks of the old town. There are many good souk alleys, but my favourite is Souk al-Bzouriyeh, spice and soap market. Spices, nuts, candies, fragrances and hand made Aleppo soaps makes the air full with aromas. Good thing is also that shop-keepers are not pushy so it is possible to stroll and wonder in peace.
